<title>Youth Mental Health First Aid Training</title>

<p>Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) is designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing
    a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis. Youth Mental Health First Aid is primarily designed for adults who regularly interact with young people. The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent
    development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior disorders (including
    AD/HD), and eating disorders. <br /><br /><strong style="font-family: 'Open Sans';"><span style="font-family: Arial;">Important Details:</span></strong><span style="font-family: Arial;">&nbsp;<br /><strong></strong><br />-This training is only open to Florida residents who work in a healthcare setting.<br />-This training will occur virtually in one, 8-hour time period.<br />-You must attend the full session in order to be certified as a Youth Mental Health First Aider.<br />-<em>Your<strong> camera must be on</strong> for at least 90% of the time</em>, per certification requirements from the National Council for Mental Wellbeing.<br />-There are about 90 minutes of <strong>required pre-work</strong> to complete online before the training date.&nbsp;<br />-This training is part of our&nbsp;<a href="https://www.peersupportfl.org/who-we-serve/medical-professionals/">Certified Well-being Ambassador</a></span><strong></strong><strong></strong><strong></strong><strong></strong>
    <span style="font-family: 'Open Sans';"><span style="font-family: Arial;">&nbsp;Series.&nbsp;<br /></span><br /><span style="font-family: Arial;">Registering&nbsp;on this event page is the first step to attending the training, however, please note, <span style="text-decoration: underline;">approved participants will receive an email 1-2 weeks prior to the training inviting them to login to an account the MHFA Connect Portal (a LMS website).</span>&nbsp;<strong>This will allow you to complete the required self-paced pre-work in the Connect portal before the training date (this pre-work takes approx. 90 minutes to complete). You do NOT need to create your own Connect account- we will do this for you and send you your login information 1-2 weeks prior to the training.<br /><br /></strong></span>

<p style="background-color: #ffffff;"><span style="font-family: Arial;"><em>Please note: This is a hybrid eCPR course which does not meet the requirements necessary to go on to become an eCPR facilitator/trainer; it is intended as a practical orientation to Emotional CPR skills for those working in the mental or physical healthcare field.</em></span></p>
<p style="background-color: #ffffff;"><span style="font-family: Arial;">Emotional CPR (eCPR), is a hope-based public health approach to build strong, resilient, cooperative communities. It is&nbsp;designed to teach people to assist others through an emotional crisis through three simple steps: C= Connecting, P= emPowering,
    and R= Revitalization. This training will help prepare you to provide support to others- patients, coworkers, family, or people you haven't met- who may be experiencing an emotional crisis. eCPR skills can be practiced both by people trained in counseling,
    assessment, or other mental health skills, also by those with no mental health training. It is also valuable in deepening day-to-day communication.&nbsp;&nbsp;</span></p>
<p style="background-color: #ffffff;"><span style="font-family: Arial;"><br /><strong>This course is hybrid, meaning it will consist of two parts: a 2-hour self-paced, online learning course, and a 7-hour live, <span style="text-decoration: underline;">virtual</span> training session.</strong><br /></span>

<p style="background-color: #ffffff;"><span style="font-family: Arial;"><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">This hybrid course includes the following components:&nbsp;</span></strong>

<p style="background-color: #ffffff;"><span style="font-family: Arial;">1. Pre-Work: Participants must complete approximately 2 hours of self-paced online modules.&nbsp;</span><span style="font-family: Arial;"></span><strong style="font-family: Arial;"><span style="background-color: #ffff00;"> **NOTE: Pre-Work needs to be completed four (4) working days prior to training date.**</span></strong></p>
<p style="background-color: #ffffff;"><span style="font-family: Arial;">2. Live Virtual Training: Attendance is required for the full&nbsp; 7-hour live, virtual training session.&nbsp;</span></p>
<p style="background-color: #ffffff;"><span style="font-family: Arial;">3. Post-Work and Feedback: Completion of all post-training assignments and submission of an anonymous Course Feedback Survey are required to receive the certificate.&nbsp;</span></p>
<p style="background-color: #ffffff;"><span style="background-color: #ffff00; font-weight: 700; font-family: Arial;">&nbsp;</span></p>
<p style="background-color: #ffffff;"><span style="background-color: #ffff00; font-weight: 700; font-family: Arial;">PLEASE NOTE: This training requires full virtual participation (with video).&nbsp; There will be small group breakout sessions for practice.&nbsp; Each participant MUST join on their own device (preferably a computer) from a place that provides private and confidential participation.&nbsp; We require active engagement - including participation in discussions, practice activities, and small group breakout sessions.&nbsp; &nbsp;This is required to receive a Certificate of Completion.&nbsp;&nbsp;</span></p>
