8‑Week DBT‑Informed Parent Training: Building Skills, Confidence, and Connection

Parenting a child who struggles with emotional dysregulation can feel overwhelming, isolating, and unpredictable. This 8‑week DBT‑informed parent training is designed to give caregivers the practical tools, emotional grounding, and community support they need to navigate these challenges with greater confidence and compassion.

Grounded in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) principles and adapted specifically for parents, this program blends evidence‑based skills with real‑life application. Each week focuses on a core set of strategies that help caregivers respond effectively to intense emotions—both their child’s and their own—while strengthening communication, reducing conflict, and building healthier patterns at home.

Over the course of eight weeks, parents learn how to:

Understand the science of emotional dysregulation and why traditional approaches often fall short

Use validation to reduce escalation and increase connection

Apply mindfulness to stay grounded during high‑stress moments

Strengthen distress tolerance to navigate crises without burning out

Build emotion regulation skills that model calm, clarity, and resilience

Set boundaries that are firm, compassionate, and sustainable

Shift from reactive patterns to intentional, skillful responses

Create a family environment that supports growth, safety, and trust

This training is not about “fixing” your child—it’s about empowering you with the tools to show up differently, reduce chaos, and create more moments of peace and connection. Whether your child is a teen or an adult, whether they are in treatment or struggling to engage, these skills meet you where you are and help you move forward with strength and hope.

Parents leave this program with:

A personalized toolkit of DBT‑based strategies

Increased confidence in handling emotional storms

A deeper understanding of their child’s behavior

More effective communication skills

A supportive community of caregivers who truly understand

Parents may also benefit from the full version of DBT Skills Training.

This journey is led by parent coaches who are experts with empathy due to their lived experiences.

BILLING AND PRICING

Pricing Option

Cost

Weekly Plan

$50 paid weekly - automatically deducted

Full Payment Plan

$380 - 5% discount - may be paid in 2 installments

For journey information email coaching@peersupportfl.org
