This is a 2-part interactive workshop series that will be recurring biannually. In the first workshop, participants will learn to define advocacy and be able to differentiate between self-advocacy and advocating for others. In learning how to self-advocate learners will be able to determine when they need help, support, and connection. Once the awareness for support is realized the individual will learn how to calmly, yet assertively communicate their thoughts and feelings and ask for what is needed or wanted. Individuals will also learn how to best speak up for themselves when being treated poorly.

In the second workshop, participants will learn the role of a mentor and determine mentors in their own lives. Participants will then learn the different skills that mentors use and be able to engage in practice scenarios where they can practice developing those skills in order to being mentoring others.

As a result of these 2 workshops, teens and young adults will be better prepared to identify their own needs and advocate for help and assistance with those needs as well as encourage and mentor others to do the same for themselves.

This workshop is restricted to ages 13- 25 years old. For all registrants under the age of 18, a parental consent form must be submitted before attending. Each registered attendee will receive a free downloadable worksheet packet to follow along with the presentation, complete practice exercises, and keep as a resource.

If you miss the first class, you are welcome to join in for the second class.

This class will be taught by Francesca Reicherter, founder and director of Inspiring My Generation.
