Events over the past couple of years have clearly illuminated dire consequences of our nation's health disparities. Disparities are present in behavioral health systems, as well. One of the core values of recovery-oriented peer support is ensuring that supports are individualized and focused on the preferences, values, and desires of each individual. Active participation will be encouraged in this series to promote self-reflection and deeper learning. Participants will have the opportunity to build and practice new engagement skills.

Session 1 will help participants understand the drivers of health inequities

Session 2 clarifies what the Racial Justice and Mental Health Recovery movements mean for peer support services.

Session 3 discusses helpers, healers, and jailers helping us understand the difference while choosing a path forward.

Session 4 gives instruction on implementing a frameworks for culturally relevant peer support services.

Session 5 helps put all the pieces together so that peer support specialists and their organizations will be fully equipped with a framework to provide more effective, culturally relevant peer support services.
