June's presenter is Lisa Taliaferro.

Lisa has dedicated her life to ensuring that those living with mental illness are not criminalized and instead receive the care they need. She founded Patients Not Prisoners (www.patientsnotprisoners.org) in Florida in order to continue advocating, educating and supporting this cause while helping families and first responders who seek to support the mentally ill.. Her sons have been involved in the judicial system while experiencing mental illness, which further inspired her work. Lisa retired from a 30 year career in Investment Banking Management. She graduated from Bethel College with a degree in Business Organizational Management, allowing her to develop a strong foundation of skills necessary to create her nonprofit organizations.

Lisa wanted the community to be at the front of the research of this problem. She utilized the https://wemeasure.org Measure CARE Model as an evaluation tool. The Measure CARE Model focuses on creating sustainable change within communities by engaging community members and providing them with resources so they can advocate for themselves.

If you are looking to make advances in your career, become self-employed, or start your own business, this webinar is just for you! Learn about entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship from peers with mental health and/or substance use lived experience. Learn how they were able to find recovery and make advances in their career path!

What would be like to own your own business and be your own boss? Want to learn how to get started?

If you are nervous about the toll it would take on your mental health or think it may be too much for you, our speakers discuss how they are able to manage their career goals while still managing their wellness.  Are there other things holding you back? Find answers to those questions and more as you listen to our speakers who worked through their own things that were holding them back. We are becoming familiar with the many ways a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist can serve their community. So many organizations and so many different roles. But what if you dream of doing something else?  Or what if you dream of running a business on the side? Is there a way, is there a path that will allow you to be your own boss, set your own hours, provide your own unique service or sell your own unique product? The answer is YES to all of it!

We invite you to join us for this unique webinar series where we will listen to peer entrepreneurs all over the United States from all walks of life and with peer journeys that are unique and inspirational all on their own. Then listen to these peers tell you about their career dreams and how they took their dream and made it a reality. If they can do it, why can't you? The Peer Support Coalition of Florida believes that there are no limits to recovery. We intend to prove it to you!

Starting a business is an exciting endeavor, but it can also be overwhelming. We also offer a biannual Aspiring Entrepreneur Workshop for Peers where we are finding and laying the groundwork to pathways that can help you be successful in your journey.
