3 hours of self-paced learning on our LMS plus 5 hours of instruction and practical application delivered in one live session virtually over Zoom The DBT Skills Coach/ Group Facilitator Certification is for those practitioners who have completed at least one of PSCFL's Non-Clinical DBT Skills Modules (Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation, and Interpersonal Effectiveness) with the intention to complete all 4 modules within a year's time. The Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) non-clinical Skills Group Training Program at the Peer Support Coalition of Florida, Inc. (PSCFL) was developed in collaboration with the UF Health- University of Florida. Our trainers have been taught and mentored by Dr. Allison Ventura, PhD with the UF Department of Psychiatry. Dr. Ventura is one of only a dozen trained DBT clinicians in Florida and has been working with counseling, facilitating, and leading skills groups since 2005. Research data will be collected along the way from both Group Facilitators and the participants served as well to demonstrate efficacy of the model. This training workshop is set up in two parts: Part 1 is self-paced and will be completed on our LMS. It will cover objectives, review of thinking patterns and biosocial theory, DBT Skills Group- specific group dynamics and protocols, basics of setting up the group, data collection, group and agenda format, delineation of responsibilities for the leader and co-leader, readiness and baseline working knowledge and requisite personal practice for the facilitator, skills and tips for success specific to DBT Skills Groups. This section will take about 1.5 hours and give assignments to be completed on your own to prepare for 2 practicums, one-on-one coaching and group coaching. You will want to set aside about 4 hours of time to prepare for the Live Session. Part 2 is the Live Session and will allow opportunity for the practitioners to practice group facilitation using the DBT Skills Group manual and model. The practitioner will be evaluated on a variety of skills to determine readiness to lead DBT Skills Groups. Those who meet the requirements will be certified to lead Non-clinical DBT Skills Groups within their organization or independently as well as conduct one-on-one coaching.
