PSCFL Attends City of Longwood Overdose Awareness Day

(Longwood, Florida) - On Saturday, August. 26th, the City of Longwood and Seminole County Sheriff's Office hosted an informational gathering to honor International Overdose Awareness Day at Reiter Park. 


International Overdose Awareness Day is an annual campaign to end overdose, remember those who have died without stigma or judgment, and acknowledge the pain of the loved ones left behind.


This informational gathering aims to raise awareness and reduce the stigma about the opioid crisis in our community. Sheriff Dennis M. Lemma and Seminole County Commissioner Matt Morgan were the guest speakers. They are at the forefront of fighting the national opioid crisis driving impact in the community to develop treatment, education, and public policy initiatives to address opioid use disorder. 


Commissioner Morgan states he is “Proud to be now late into my 17th year of sobriety!” Matt says, “Once part of the problem, today I continue to proudly be part of the solution, serving on our Seminole County Opioid Council…for the number one drug/alcohol facility in Florida!”
