Our presenter for April is Jennifer Randal-Thorpe

Jennifer Randal-Thorpe is from Lafayette, Louisiana is the Chief Executive Officer of Meaningful Minds United, Inc.  She is a 1987 graduate of The University of Louisiana with a bachelor’s in applied sciences, certified as a Counselor in Training with The Louisiana Association of Substance Abuse Counselors and Trainers and is a Recognized Peer Support Specialist with the State of Louisiana.  Jennifer is an Educator in Emotional CPR with the National Empowerment Center and is a former member of The National Suicide Action Alliance Panel.  She has received national recognition with The International Bipolar Foundation, The Mental Health Innovation Network, the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, and The College of Behavioral Health Leadership, an is a member of the community-based stakeholders and advocate’s advisory board for The Lancet Psychiatry Commission on Psychoses and the Louisiana Peer Action Advocacy Coalition. Jennifer is the proud mother of three girls and eight grandchildren.  She is very active in local, state and national initiatives.

The Peer Support Coalition of Florida believes that there are no limits to recovery. We intend to prove it to you!

We are becoming familiar with the many ways a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist can serve their community. So many organizations and so many different roles. But what if you dream of doing something else?  Or what if you dream of running a business on the side? Is there a way, is there a path that will allow you to be your own boss, set your own hours, provide your own unique service or sell your own unique product? The answer is YES, YES, YES, YES, and YES. 

What if it's an idea someone is already doing? Is there also room for you to do it too? Of course there is!!! YES Again. 

We want you to see how the peers in our series have managed to accomplish just that. But more than that, we want to inspire you to feel confident that you can do it too! The best part is, you will not be left alone after being inspired. PSCFL is working behind the scenes with organizations to find information and education that will be available at no cost to you that will teach you everything you need to know to start your own business, even mentor you along the way. Starting a business is an exciting endeavor, but it can also be overwhelming. We are finding and laying the groundwork to be able to offer you opportunities and pathways that can help you be successful in your journey.
